“Dr. Shane Williams’ embrace of the whole food plant-based diet for preventing and reversing heart disease is having profound implications for all those who hear and act on his message. Facing the prospect of imminent triple bypass (CABG) surgery, I sought an alternative. Dr. Williams introduced me to the idea that a lifestyle change could radically alter the outcome of my cardiovascular disease as well as provide me with additional health benefits. Three years later I am symptom free and in the best shape of my life.
I owe a debt of gratitude to the care that Dr. Williams has provided me. He takes the time to make sure you fully understand what it takes to improve your overall health, explains it in plain language, and then provides excellent follow-up support. His approach is second to none for improving your chances of living a long and healthy life.”

“After having a heart attack in 2010, I tried changing my lifestyle habits by exercising regularly, eating what I thought was healthier food and reading different books, which included Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease and The China Study. However, it wasn’t until February of 2014, where Dr. Williams identified and motivated me to try the Whole Food Plant Based diet.
Since then, I have lost over 30 pounds, my cholesterol medicine has been cut in half and my blood pressure is down. I have attended Dr. Williams “Lunch and Learn Sessions” and find they continue to motivate and educate me in my new lifestyle. I applaud Dr. Williams for his efforts.”

Inaugural Health Summit Testimonials
“I went to the Summit to see what the impact of following a whole-food, plant-based diet strictly for ten days would have on my blood sugar, weight, and cholesterol numbers. It was also a great opportunity to hear from and talk to people like Caldwell Esselstyn and Colin Campbell, whose books I had read. Results? My numbers were even better than I had expected, and I was able to interact with Drs. Campbell and Esselstyn almost daily. Definitely worth the trip to the Dominican Republic!”

“At 50 years of age, I look back and see that I have always taken a proactive role in my health by staying fit; eating in a healthy manner; keeping educated in the latest diabetes advancements; communicating with a range of experts on my healthcare team both alternative and allopathic. However, despite my dedication and care, long-term Type 1 diabetes (over 40 years now) had created many challenges. I had already experienced several of the complications associated with Diabetes.
Learning about Dr. Williams’ approach to healthcare, could not have come at a better time. I had just spent the past 14 months convalescing from spontaneous fractures and several surgeries. When I heard about Dr. Williams and his philosophy, I was determined to attend the Information Night despite having just undergone two surgeries.
I loved and believed what I heard due to the science that backed this up (not to mention, Dr. Williams’ humble yet humorous approach). That night I made the decision to sign up for the “Lunch and Learn” sessions and to attend the first 10-day Immersion program 3 weeks later. Of course, I also went out and bought, ‘The China Study’ and the ‘Forks over Knives’ documentary and began ‘studying’.
For me, going cold ‘turkey’ (tofurkey) at the Summit was the best method. It allowed me to see drastic positive results in a very short period which in turn kept me very motivated. I love to cook, so adopting the new Plant-based recipes was fun and adapting my old recipes was easy. My results were remarkable: my insulin requirements dropped by 30%; my aches and pains due to inflammation reduced considerably; I began sleeping much better; I saw a good reduction in my cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, creatinine/albumin and A1c; I had more energy and felt younger; I no longer experienced constipation; my hair and skin became healthier; my mind felt clearer; the circulation in my feet improved and I lost 10 pounds as an added bonus!
Simply put, I feel wonderful. I feel assured that I will be able to ward off the dreaded complications associated with 40 years of living with Type 1 diabetes. As well, I feel confident I will have the best chance to prevent diseases such as cancer, heart disease/stroke, Alzheimer’s etc. Healing through nutrition found in the Whole-Foods Plant-Based diet just makes sense…for my health, for the environment, and ethically.”

“The Summit was unique in that it gave us close and personal contact with the speakers who were all awesome. It also gave first hand information about how good food can taste that is strictly plant based. It just reinforced my feeling about the value of this way of eating.
At my age, 89, I wasn’t looking for dramatic change but I do notice that if I stick to mainly plant based food I have less brain fog, hurrah!
We are never too old to learn something new. I welcome the opportunity. The speakers were very interesting and convincing.
I have 5 sons and daughters-in-law, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. I want them to be healthy, I do not want to outlive any of them. I encouraged my son John and his family to come to the Summit. My grandson Jeremy has lost 24 pounds. got rid of acid reflux and is embracing the diet. This worked for him when all other forms of persuasion and encouragement to change his eating didn’t.
I continue to encourage other family members to change and they have to some extent. My son Ian and his wife are going to Dr. MacDougall’s one week healthy eating in California Feb 20, 2015. I am working on my other sons. If you have another Summit I hope some may attend.”
